RUGBY LEAGUE: Former Logan Brothers player and current Maroons star Corey Parker has teamed up with Springwood’s Red Rockto promote healthy food choices.
Parker, voted Players’ Player by his Maroon teammates after his run-on debut in last week’s State of Origin thriller, is the new face of Red Rock Noodle Bar.
Maroons and Broncos legend Michael Hancock, who played 14 Origins from 1989 to 1996, handed out 500 vouchers to local junior rugby league clubs.
The former winger, who is the Broncos’ development officer for the south Brisbane area, said it was a great initiative for the community.
‘‘The vouchers were given to local rugby league clubs to use as Man of the Match, Coach of the Week and Volunteer of the Week awards,’’ Hancock said.
‘‘It’s a way to promote healthier options when choosing takeaway for busy families.
‘‘We want to encourage a healthy diet for children, which will help young rugby league players on their way to becoming the next Corey Parker.’’
Other local clubs that will receive vouchers include Slacks Creek, Souths Sunnybank and Logan Brothers.
